Control high heat energy loads

Food production often involves a lot of process machinery and people, which can lead to high heat energy loads. Typical room temperature requirements can be anywhere between +4oC and +18oC in production areas. High heat loads and low room temperatures lead to lots of cooling demand. We have a wealth of experience using fabric ducting systems to address these requirements. In fact, fabric ducts were initially developed for food industry ventilation.

Benefits of using Prihoda Fabric ducts for Food Industry Ventilation

Draught free ventilation

It’s not unusual to see air change rates as high as 35 or 50 in a food production cooling system depending upon the circumstances. It’s difficult to deliver lots of very cold air into a space without draughts while also maintaining comfortable working conditions. If the air volume for the room is lower but we still need the same level of cooling, the supply air temperature will have to be much lower – ∆t increases. Delivering large air volumes ensures that the cooling demand is met without creating an unpleasant environment.

Micro-perforation diffusers for consistent air flow

Prihoda fabric ducts use micro-perforation diffusers (our own original design and patent). They allow large volumes of supplied and original room air to mix at low velocity, encouraging air turnover and preventing hot spots and stagnation. Prihoda micro-perforations also ensure that the duct doesn’t needlessly act as a filter – the AHU has filters that are easy to access and clean. Our ducts don’t get blocked or dirty as quickly as conventional fabric ducting from our competitors, meaning less maintenance time and costs.

The need for fabric ducting in the food industry

A fabric ducting system is practically the only way to achieve this level of air volume and cooling whilst still keeping a comfortable level of air movement, distribution and velocity. By placing fabric ducts on the ceilings at correct intervals, we introduce a huge surface area of diffusion into the room. It is effectively a ceiling-mounted displacement ventilation system. The air exits the ducts at a low velocity and falls into the occupied zone under its own density as it’s a lot cooler than the surrounding room air. The size and layout of the fabric ducting system allow for good distribution of supply air all over the room.

Easy to clean system

With Prihoda fabric ducts, there is no chance of fibre contamination within food process or production areas. We always use a smooth cleanroom quality non-fibre shedding material. We are the only fabric ducting manufacturer to do this by default. We also offer an anti-bacterial material that is impregnated with silver to harness its antimicrobial properties. All of our materials are suitable for food facilities and are cleanable in a commercial washing machine. For even more convenience, Prihoda also offers a washing and maintenance service.
